Mali's next phase: French military rule

It’s going to be weeks or months before an African Union-backed military force can take shape. In the meantime, the north of Mali will be controlled by the French military.

As usual, a well-trained Western army has gone through a fierce-looking but virtually untrained force of African rebels like a hot knife through butter.
