Why the Ukrainian elections are so important
The large number of Canadian election observers show continuing political competition (using public funds) for the goodwill of the organized Canadian-Ukrainian community. Nevertheless, international observation of these elections is important to help defend democracy in Ukraine; and Canada’s willingness to do so is valuable, regardless of its underlying motivations.
