When retired lieutenant-general and Liberal Senator Roméo Dallaire stated last week that the Canadian government's refusal to recognize Omar Khadr as having been a child soldier put Canada in the same category as terrorists like al-Qaeda, he showed himself to be one of the few parliamentarians to find the courage to speak out.
