The culture under assault might be the one being invaded

People paying only scant attention to world events might see global jihad. But it's the West that has intervened, invaded and occupied multiple Muslim lands since 2001.

Last week, French President François Hollande unveiled a commemorative plaque outside of the Paris office of the satirical publication Charlie Hebdo on the one year anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack that targeted the magazine for publishing cartoons insulting Islam. This attack and the subsequent violent acts committed by the same perpetrators outside of Paris resulted in the deaths of 17 civilians.
