Help, Don't Abolish, the Foreign Service

After 36 years in the Foreign Service with many foreign postings and international policy job specializations in Ottawa, but no jobs in other departments, I find the arguments made by David Eaves in favour of strengthening and democratizing the foreign service, rather than "getting rid" of it, relevant and constructive (RE: "Time to Get Rid of the Foreign Service?" June 24).
