Aboriginal Peoples, not Aboriginals

I am speaking as a First Nation citizen from the Mohawk Nation. I constantly hear media use the term "Aboriginals" to refer to Aboriginal Peoples in Canada (RE: "Aboriginals living in 'third world of Canada:' Envoy," Jan. 11).
