Press Club Server Dishes Out the Memories

May 16 was the last day the National Press Club served drinks and food, closing for good after filing for bankruptcy. The last event–a European Union award ceremony for three young Canadian journalists–was as ironic as it was sad. As the three young reporters start their careers, the place that served as the favourite haunt for Ottawa journalists many years ago was closing down. It was sad because, well, the end of anything is always a sad occasion, though in my opinion, the award ceremony for the young journalists was a fitting tribute.
