Although his job as director of outreach for the University of Pennsylvania's African Studies Centre requires him to promote interest in the continent to business, media, and schools, Ali B. Ali-Dinar has taken on educating the world about the conflict in Sudan's Darfur province as a special mission. "Because I'm from the region, I consider it my duty to do something from an insider's perspective," he says. The academic, whose training is in folkloric studies and archeology, is also a proficient webmaster, and is responsible for maintaining www.darfurinfo.org, a portal dedicated to explaining the history behind the crisis in Darfur and providing breaking news about events there.
