Trade Split Causing Sparks

Allan Gotlieb predicts the DFAIT split won't be permanent

Foreign Service Officers and Trade Commissioners are parting ways after a nearly 25-year union within a single department led by one minister. And the separation is causing heartache for some of the leading figures who made the relationship work from the early days. Some of these observers say the government is tearing apart the well-suited marriage of foreign and trade policy.
