World Bank Raises Eyebrows

Critics call for greater transparency in selection process

The Canadian government is amenable to the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz as head of the World Bank, but isn't closing the door to supporting other possible contenders. "Canada welcomes the nomination of Paul Wolfowitz for the post of the World Bank Group. Mr. Wolfowitz is a very serious and credible candidate," according to David Gamble, the spokesperson for Finance Minister Ralph Goodale. "Until such time as all nominations are put forward we are unable to comment further."
