CIDA minister should take the lead at the World Bank

The junior cabinet member responsible for international development should replace the finance minister as Canada's lead political voice at the World Bank, sending a powerful signal that poverty reduction is the nation's fundamental mission, according to leading foreign observers. "Do you have a person who's a really smart financial guy that holds the purse strings? Or do you have a person who spends their time thinking about how to advance development?" asks Robert Greenhill, a visiting senior executive at the International Research Development Centre (IDRC), and former president of Bombardier International.
