What Canada Can Do for One of the World's Most Violent Countries

One of the most violence-prone societies in the world." That's how Canada's Foreign Affairs department describes Colombia on its website. Colombia's standing on Canada's official travel advisory is nearly identical to Iraq's. "Don't go there," says the advisory. In fact, so infectious is the violence emanating from Colombia that the Foreign Affairs site advises Canadians not to go within 80 km of the border that Venezuela, Equator and Peru share with Colombia.
