Mulroney's Foreign Policy In South Africa

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney said he was proud that he stood up to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher over sanctions against South Africa. In his new book, The Secret Mulroney Tapes, Peter C. Newman quotes the frequently hyperbolic, regularly street-talking, but often charming Mr. Mulroney: "I fought Margaret to a damn standstill on apartheid, but that's because if I hadn't taken her on, I would have had to take a lot of crap from Canadians."
