Denmark Opens First Diplomatic Mission in Nunavut

Denmark opened the first diplomatic mission in the Canadian territory of Nunavut last week. According to Poul Erik Kristensen, Denmark's ambassador to Canada, the office been in the planning stages for about a year, long before the recent dispute over Hans Island, a small Arctic rock claimed by both Denmark and Canada, made headlines this summer. The honourary consulate was officially opened on Sept. 28.
