The poor old World Trade Organization lurches toward a round in Hong Kong to help poor countries ­ despite the opposition of these countries. But, beleaguered as it is, the WTO is all we've got between the world and the law of the jungle.

The same might be said of the World Trade Organization (WTO) ­ the global body charged with tending the flame of free trade.
