With the federal election only days away, Canadian foreign policy observers are reading the tea leaves in the party platforms on hot-button international issues like Afghanistan, Haiti, Darfur and Iraq. All are countries where Canada has invested millions of dollars in development aid and in some cases, has a military presence to maintain the peace, but they don't get mentioned much on the campaign trail.
