African Education Conference

The Canadian Council on Africa presents a two-day conference on Education and Economic Development in Africa next month in Montreal, with an additional day of workshops scheduled for April 27. High-level stakeholders including researchers, decision-makers and practitioners from 12 countries will come together to discuss the socio-economic challenges of education in Africa, development strategies for implementing the G8 guidelines and Millennium Development Goals, and identifying opportunities for Canada-Africa partnerships in the education sector. Some of the expected speakers include Lala Aïcha Ben Braka, Director of UNESCO's Regional Office for Education in Africa; Joseph Paré, Burkina Faso's Education Minister; David Bloom from Harvard University; and Robert Greenhill, President of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
