Market Economy Status Would be 'Friendly Gesture': Chinese Diplomat

China wants Canada to set an example by giving it market economy status, which would help it in anti-dumping cases, but it's a moniker DFAIT has never recognized.

Recognizing China as a market economy would represent a "friendly gesture" and benefit both Canada and the emerging economic superpower, a Chinese diplomat said last week.
