Canada Challenges Belgian Seal Ban

David Emerson and Peter MacKay say Belgium's ban of Canadian seal products violates world trade rules, a move Inuit groups applaud amidst a recent spate of anti-seal policies in Europe and the U.S.

The government has requested formal consultations with Belgium at the World Trade Organization, alleging the European country's ban on the import of Canadian seal products violates international trade rules, senior ministers announced yesterday.
