Canada Denies Visas to Burmese Activists

But questions as to whether the activists applied from countries in which they were allowed to reside, which would mean they aren't allowed to go back to where they came from, have been raised.

Canadian immigration officials at the country's embassies in Thailand, Japan and Bangladesh have denied visas to four pro-democracy Burmese activists and political leaders who were planning to attend a conference in Ottawa next week due to fears they will try to stay in Canada once they arrive, says a local activist.
