Former trade officials: US, Japan issues weaken TPP chances for Canada

Reluctance, elections, Congress all US factors; Japanese domestic politics plays a part as well, they argue.

While the Harper government says it has support from six of nine countries on its bid to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, former government trade officials say external factors are making it less likely that Canada will get in anytime soon.
