The arms of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the National Mall in Washington reach outwards, to the ideals represented by both the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The memorial now lists 58,300 names of those who died in the war with Vietnam and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
