The heads of mission of Portuguese-speaking countries in Ottawa hosted a film screening followed by a reception to mark the opening of the Portuguese Language Film Festival on May 8 at Library and Archives Canada.	Eleonore Wnendt-Juber, wife of the German ambassador, hosted a farewell luncheon for Markéta Žebrakovskà, wife of the Czech ambassador, on May 3 at the German residence.	The Haitian Embassy hosted a concert and reception at the Canadian Museum of Civilization on May 15 on the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the Haitian flag.
The North-South Institute hosted a gala dinner May 9 as part of its conference, Governing Natural Resources for Africa's Development, at the Chateau Laurier.	Swedish Ambassador Teppo Tauriainen hosted a luncheon in honour of The Real Group, a Swedish a cappella singing group, at his residence on May 9.	The Polish Embassy celebrated Constitution Day with a reception at the Chateau Laurier on May 6.
The Cuban Embassy hosted a reception at the embassy April 30 to mark the recent presentation of credentials of new ambassador Julio Garmendía.	Immigration Minister Jason Kenney in partnership with the Ottawa Asian Heritage Month Society and the Canada Korea Society hosted a reception to launch Asian Heritage Month on May 1 at the Canadian War Museum.	The 2013 “Springtime in Paris”-themed Snowflake Ball took place at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Que. on May 4. The ball supports several charities.
The European Union Delegation in Canada, and the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association hosted a reception to mark Europe Day at the Government Conference Centre on May 9.	The Solomon Mikhoels International Cultural Center presented the Culture Beyond Borders gala concert on May 7 at the Museum of Civilization, coinciding with Victory Day in Russia on May 9.	The South African High Commission celebrated Freedom Day with a reception April 30 at the Chateau Laurier.
Dutch Embassy staff handed out KING peppermints and orange tulips on Parliament Hill on April 30 to celebrate Queen’s Day. Later that day, they hosted a reception at Ottawa City Hall, which also marked the investiture of a new Dutch king and queen. It was also Ambassador Wim Geerts’ farewell reception.	The Friends of the Village of Rockcliffe Park Foundation hosted its biannual Dining with the Ambassadors event on April 26 to raise money for the community. The dinner was preceded by a reception at the Rockcliffe Community Hall and Library.	The Ottawa Classical Choir celebrated Giuseppe Verdi’s 200^th birthday with a concert of his greatest arias and choruses at Dominion-Chalmers Church on May 4.
Turkish Ambassador Tuncay Babali and his wife Emine in partnership with the Friends of the National Arts Centre Orchestra hosted a Music Embassy Chamber Concert at their residence on April 26 as part of the FNACO’s Music to Dine For program.	The United States Embassy hosted a tea at the ambassador’s residence on April 26 featuring writers from the Ottawa International Writers Festival.	The president of the Micronutrient Initiative, MG Venkatesh Mannar, was invested as an officer of the Order of Canada on May 3. The Micronutrient Initiative hosted a reception at Social restaurant and lounge on May 1 to celebrate.
Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves made a state visit to Canada on May 1 and 2, the first such visit by an Estonian president to Canada. Canada is home to the second-largest Estonian community outside of the country.	Conservative Senator Salma Ataullahjan, head of the Canada-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and The End of Polio hosted “A Strong Partnership for Polio Eradication in Pakistan: Celebrating Canada’s Leadership towards The End of Polio,” on April 18 in Centre Block on Parliament Hill.	The 78th Fraser Highlanders (Fort Glengarry Garrison) and Macedonian Ambassador Ljuben Tevdovski hosted a reception to welcome Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov on April 22 at the National Arts Centre.
A farewell party for Czech Ambassador Karel Žebrakovský and his wife Markéta Žebrakovská took place on April 25 at the embassy.	The Australian and New Zealand high commissions hosted an ANZAC Day memorial service at the Canadian War Museum on April 25.	The high commission of Trinidad and Tobago hosted a reception April 24 at the mission to welcome Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to Canada.
