This summer, take the train if you want to see Canada at its best

Catherine Kaloutsky, senior spokesperson for VIA, Canada's passenger rail service, squeezes a cellphone call to Embassy into her packed schedule to talk trains and summer travel plans. She makes the point right away that taking the train is a family-oriented, surprisingly flexible, and just plain fun way to go. "We know that over the last couple of years, the traveler is looking for more than just getting from Point A to Point B," she says. "They want to finish their trip with the sense that they've taken something with them."
