Afghan Hero Day

To commemorate the fourth anniversary of the assassination of Afghanistan's National Hero Ahmad Shah Massoud, the embassy of Afghanistan, together with the Consulate General in Toronto, held a panel discussion on Afghanistan's history of resistance and sacrifice on Sept. 9 at the Ottawa Public Library. Among the speakers were former politician and NGO volunteer Flora MacDonald (above); former U.S. diplomat and special envoy to the Afghan Resistance Peter Tomsen; former U.S. Defence Intelligence Agency analyst Julie Sirrs, and Counsellor at the Afghan embassy in Ottawa Mehrabodin Masstan.
