The six-year reign of Adrienne Clarkson as the Queen's representative in Canada has been drawing to a quiet close this summer. But that will change today as the outgoing GG takes the podium to "discuss what she's witnessed during her mandate," according to a press release from her office. The privilege of hearing some of the GG's first thoughts on her final days at Rideau Hall will be given to an audience of largely businesspeople, labour activists, educators and government officials. The Empire Club of Canada and the Canadian Club of Toronto are hosting the address of the 26th governor general at noon, Sept. 14, at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Her successor, former journalist Michaëlle Jean, is to be sworn in on Sept. 27.
