Last week Canada pledged $250 million in funding over two years to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. But even with mostly European nations vowing to top up the Global Fund by another $3.7 billion, almost $4 billion more in pledges is needed for 2006-07. Canada's share of the Global Fund is about four per cent. That means that Canada is about $50 million short of its responsibilities between 2005-07, say Fund officials.
