Israel Still Very Much in Gaza

Published: Wednesday, 10/12/2005 12:00 am EDT

In response to the Oct. 5 article written by Ms. Leadlay on the two-state dynamic for Palestine/Israel ("Two State Dynamic Best for Israel, and Canada Can Help, says Professor" Embassy Oct. 5, 2005), I wanted to point out an inaccuracy. To write that "...following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza after 38 years of occupation..." insinuates that Gaza is no longer occupied. The settlers, who were there illegally, have left, but Israel maintains control over Palestinian airspace, territorial waters, and most importantly its borders. As such, Israel continues its military rule over the Palestinians and continues to deny Palestinians their freedom.
