Seventy participants from Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto met on Nov. 26, at the invitation of Independent MP David Kilgour, to form the Congress of Congolese-Canadians (CCC). "I would like to congratulate my community for coming together in a spirit of unity, to elect for the first time in history, a united body that will represent the Congolese people in Canada," said Rev. Oscar Boloko, a Congolese Canadian who is Chair and initiator of forum, which plans to serve as a united voice for the Congolese community. The CCC is keen to work with a potential Canadian elections observer mission scheduled to oversee the elections expected to take place in the Democratic Republic of Congo next year. An executive was elected and the CCC plans to expand to include other Canadian provinces.
