All five major federal political parties have submitted detailed responses to the Sierra Club of Canada's 2006 Federal Election Questionnaire. The survey included 14 questions, asking each party what they would do on environmental issues including the Kyoto Protocol, NAFTA's Chapter 11 and terminator seeds. The NDP, Bloc Quebecois and Green Party all agreed to renegotiate the North American Free Trade deal to include better protection for the environment. The Conservatives want a greenhouse gas reducing plan that includes China, India and the U.S., while the Bloc wants to see each Canadian province have control of how to implement Kyoto. Also, both the Bloc and the Green Party want to pressure the government would sign the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. For complete responses, go to www.sierraclub.ca/national/vote-canada/2006/.
