Chris Alexander to UN

It's official that Canada's former ambassador to Afghanistan is taking a post at the United Nations. Chris Alexander was appointed by Kofi Annan as one of two Deputy Special Representatives of the Secretary General for Afghanistan. Mr. Alexander is a career diplomat who joined Foreign Affairs in 1991 and served in Canada's embassy in Moscow from 1993 to 2003, in two different posts. He became the Canadian envoy in Kabul in August 2003.
