Orange Revolution

In Dec. 2004, Canadian lawyer Gavin Murphy took part in the 500-strong Canadian election observer delegation to observe the electoral re-match between Viktor Yushchenko and incumbent Viktor Yanukovich for Ukraine's presidency. Between making sure voting took place in an orderly and democratic manner, Mr. Murphy, who is currently working for the Commonwealth Secretariat in the UK, was busy documenting the events surrounding what has been called the Orange Revolution. Twelve of these photographs from eastern Ukraine and Kiev, including the above photo of a Yushchenko supporter, are currently on display at the Embassy of Ukraine in Ottawa until February.
