No Explanations Needed

Costa Rica's Ambassador to Canada and Dean of the Diplomatic Community, Carlos Miranda, has been in Ottawa for 16 years. He is currently back home in San Jose on vacation. On Monday, the main local newspaper La Nacion said that Mr. Miranda's permanency in the position was "inexplicable" and quoted Foreign Minister Roberto Tovar saying "I don't have any explanations." When questioned by the paper, Ambassador Miranda, who has served for four different administrations, said, "I have done a good job."
