Canuck Hopes for Restoration of Investments

Published: Wednesday, 07/19/2006 12:00 am EDT

Ken Rowe, a Canadian businessman, said last week he will withdraw his Russian investments and go elsewhere unless a luxury hotel his firm developed is returned after the G8 meeting. Mr. Rowe's company, IMP Group Ltd., invested about $50 million in a Moscow hotel, only to be evicted in Aug. 2004. The Russian government has not made any criminal charges over the takeover, despite recommendations by the Moscow prosecutor's office and repeated urging by former prime ministers Jean Chrétien and Paul Martin.
