Russia Elects Rock Star

Canadian scientist Frank Hawthorne has been elected as a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Mr. Hawthorne, a professor of geological sciences at the University of Manitoba, is only the fourth Canadian ever to receive the honour. Mr. Hawthorne is currently working with Russian scientists examining rocks recovered from the Kola Superdeep Borehole in northwestern Russia.
