Hearn Pelts Activists

Fisheries Minister Loyola Hearn dismissed a declaration by 368 EU parliamentarians to ban seal hides and furs from Canada in Europe, saying politicians have been misinformed about the annual seal hunt, and blames animal rights groups. "If they want a war over this, they bloody well got one," said Mr. Hearn to the CBC last week. Norway is the largest market for Canadian seal pelts, but is not a member of the EU.
