UN Deaths 'Error': Israel

An official Israeli inquiry into the bombing of a UN post in southern Lebanon on July 26 found the post was wrongly targeted due to flawed maps. Four UN observers, including a Canadian, Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, were killed in the raid. "The UN post was not accurately mapped," said Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev, who described the incident as "a tragic error, a mistake."
