Fewer Canadians Emigrating

The number of Canadians leaving the country has dropped to 1982 levels after a steady increase in the 1990s, says a Statistics Canada report released last Friday. About 15,000 Canadians left Canada in 2003, with the U.S. as their major destination. The report attributed the change to the high-tech industry slowdown and the U.S.'s poor economic performance in recent years.
