UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes last Thursday slammed Canada for not being a country of fighters. "I don't think Canada's had big wars or anything like that. They are not a violent country," the 170-pound fighter from Illinois said. "I don't see you guys venturing out trying to help the world out," he told a Canadian reporter. Georges St. Pierre, Mr. Hughes's Canadian challenger in a title defence last weekend, clearly did not appreciate those comments. "If Matt thinks there is no warrior in Canada, he's going to be in a war Saturday night." Mr. Hughes lost the match to Mr. St. Pierre.
