French Mother Facing Jail

A B.C. judge yesterday sentenced Nathalie Gettliffe to 16 months in jail for abducting her two children to France, violating a Canadian court order (upheld by French courts) to grant her Canadian ex-husband Scott Grant access to the children. The international custody case has attracted wide attention in France, requiring intervention from the Canadian Embassy in Paris. Ms. Gettliffe claims to plan to run for the French presidency in 2007.
