Praise for Cote d'Ivoire Peace

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay praised last weekend's peace deal between C√¥te d'Ivoire President Laurent Gbagbo and the Secretary General of the Forces Nouvelles, Guillaume Soro, as "an important step toward national reconciliation and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1721." C√¥te d'Ivoire has been divided into a government-controlled south and a rebel-controlled north since an aborted coup d'état in September 2002.
