Canadian in Haiti Jail Getting Help says Foreign Affairs

The CBC reports that Quebec resident Maxim Charbonneau is getting help from the Canadian consulate in Haiti after having spent seven months in a Haitian jail on kidnapping charges. Mr. Charbonneau's missionary parents, who live in Haiti, say their son is living in abject conditions and that the Haitian justice system has recognized his innocence. DFAIT declined to explain why Mr. Charbonneau was still in jail.
