Consider Leaving NAFTA: Julian

Failing any real changes to NAFTA, Canada should consider withdrawing from the deal altogether, NDP trade critic Peter Julian told students at Thompson Rivers University in B.C. last week. In a speech to political science students, Mr. Julian said Canada had been more negatively than positively impacted by NAFTA, and that that Canada should restructure its trade policy to be less dependent on the U.S., naming India as one country to focus increased trade. He also said human rights should be at the fore of Canada's trade relationship with China.
