Push for Securities Free Trade

Finance Minister Jim Flaherty intends to push for the removal of cross-border securities trading restrictions when he meets with U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson during IMF and World Bank meetings in Washington on April 14-15. The owner of the Toronto Stock Exchange has been lobbying for the government to push for a North American free trade in securities. Mr. Flaherty called for such free trade in a paper released with his budget last week.
