Finley Welcomes Refugees

Following consultation meets with Vietnamese communities in Toronto and Montreal last month, Immigration Minister Diane Finley has agreed to facilitate the immigration of about 150 Vietnamese living in the Philippines without official status since the 1970s to Canada. While this group is not considered to be in need of protection, they can apply for humanitarian and compassionate consideration, the minister said.
