Iran Execution Condemned

Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay added Canada's voice to those of other countries in condemning Iran for the death by stoning of Jafar Kiani earlier this month after 11 years in prison. Mr. Kiani's partner, Makroumeh Ebrahimi, is still in prison with the couple's two children on adultery charges. It was the first confirmed stoning in Iran since 2002.
