Afghan Defense Official in Town

Afghanistan's first deputy defense minister, Ahmad Yusuf Nuristani, met with National Defense Deputy Minister Ward Elcock and other senior Canadian officials during a meeting in Ottawa last week. Mr. Nuristani briefed the officials on the status of Afghanistan's National Army, which now stands at more than 50,000 trained personnel, the Afghan Embassy said. He also visited the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont., and Toronto.
