First Van Doo Killed

A soldier with Québec's Royal 22nd Regiment–the Van Doos–was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday, the day Afghanistan won independence from Britain in 1919. Pte. Simon Longtin 23, from Montreal, was killed by a roadside bomb and is the first Van Doo to die since the regiment was deployed to the Central Asian country. He is the 67th Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan.
