DFAIT Hasn't Seen Khan Report

Published: Wednesday, 09/12/2007 12:00 am EDT

Foreign Affairs access to information officers told the Globe and Mail last week that no one in their department has received a copy of Tory MP Wajid Khan's Middle East report. Heavily censored copies of meeting summaries drafted by DFAIT official Sam Hanson, who went with then-Liberal MP Mr. Khan to the Middle East last year, show that the MP was told that the Harper government's pro-Israel stance negatively affected Canada's credibility in the region. Mr. Khan's 16-day trip cost $38,000. Mr. Hanson was appointed as Canada's new envoy to Khartoum, Sudan, last month.
