Bernier to Address UN

Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier will address the UN General Assembly in New York on behalf of Canada on Oct. 2, a statement from his office said. Normally the prime minister would address the assembly's opening, but Prime Minister Stephen Harper took the opportunity yesterday to address a summit on climate change instead. The statement said Mr. Bernier would reaffirm Canada's support for Afghanistan, Haiti and Sudan.
